A joint operation involving Polish and US services stopped a planned attack, while Warsaw warns that Moscow’s reach may extend beyond Russia.
In Poland, a Russian citizen was detained after being recruited by Russian intelligence services to prepare the murder in Warsaw of a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian descent. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this.
According to him, the planned attack was thwarted during a joint operation by Poland’s Internal Security Agency, the police, and U.S. intelligence services. The potential victim, as the head of the Polish government noted, was inconvenient for Putin’s regime.
At the last moment, thanks to an operation by the Internal Security Agency and the police, this execution, this assassination attempt, was prevented.

Joint Operation by Poland and the United States
Donald Tusk thanked Polish law enforcement officers and U.S. intelligence services for their cooperation. He also called this the first case in which Russia had prepared an assassination attempt against a U.S. citizen in another NATO country.
The Polish prime minister warned that Russian authorities may continue trying to pursue people they consider undesirable outside Russia.
Unfortunately, we must assume that Putin’s regime will try to eliminate people who are inconvenient for various reasons in different parts of the world.
