Hope Valley might want to start baking the wedding cake now because if Erin Krakow has her way, Elizabeth and Nathan’s (Kevin McGarry) big day will be worth every second of that “slow burn” romance on When Calls the Heart.
Soaps.com caught up with Krakow at Hallmark’s “The Heart of Hope Valley” experience on March 18 in Los Angeles, and she was thrilled that Hearties were finally seeing the moment they were waiting for on the final episode of Season 13: Elizabeth and Nathan’s engagement.

“We’ve got one episode left of the season, babe,” Krakow jokes. “We don’t have time to waste, right? Let’s go. I’m hearing it from the fans. They are… itching. They’re itching, and we want to scratch that itch.”
Scratch away, but we wanted to know what type of bride Elizabeth might be the second time around, since the series already did a grand wedding with her first husband, Jack Sr. (Daniel Lissing). Krakow gave it some thought before responding, “I think we’d better make the wedding different this time. I have no idea. I’m excited to get to tell that story and give the fans, hopefully, what they want, but it’s really not for me to decide what it looks like or how it’s executed. Let’s see.”
The wedding remains a mystery, but let’s hope it will be sometime in Season 14, which is expected to air in 2027. The next season will also include the return of Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin), which feels fitting for their friendship.

“It was the right time for her to come back to the landscape. Everything in its time — Elizabeth needs her right now,” says Krakow.
She also appreciates that When Call the Heart‘s writers continue to remember the legacy of Jack Sr., especially for LJ aka “Little Jack”.
“I think that’s something that our show really wanted to maintain is Jack Sr.’s memory, especially since they had a child together. I mean, LJ is always going to have questions about his dad,” Krakow adds.
Even with a wedding on the horizon, When Calls the Heart will always be an ensemble show — and that’s coming straight from the star herself.
“Nathan and Elizabeth are obviously a very beautiful and central romantic storyline, if I may say so myself,” Krakow says proudly. “But I think we really see the ways that the community comes together to support every character, relationship, and family in Hope Valley. They’re always there for each other. It’s become such a beautiful and true ensemble show, and it’s an honor to get to be a part of that Hope Valley community.”
