Poland will soon test long-range missiles reaching about 1,000 km as Warsaw works with Anduril Industries on a domestic version of Barracuda-500 in Poland.
Poland is preparing to test long-range missile capabilities in the coming days. Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk announced the planned trials during a visit to the Nova-Demba training ground.
The military will practice the use of missiles with a range of roughly 1,000 kilometers. Residents across Poland are expected to receive special notifications in advance of the tests.
At present, the Polish armed forces rely only on foreign-made missiles capable of operating at such distances. These are primarily aviation munitions designed for use by multirole fighter aircraft.
Warsaw is also moving ahead with efforts to develop its own long-range weapon. According to the IAR agency, testing of the Barracuda-500 long-range cruise missile began several weeks ago as part of Poland’s cooperation with the US defense industry.
The project involves a Polish defense holding company and Anduril Industries. The technologies being used are expected to make it possible to establish production in Poland of a domestic version of the missile with a range of about 1,000 kilometers.
