A group of approximately 30 humanoid and quadrupedal robots staged an unusual protest in Warsaw, Poland, to draw attention to the potential effects of the uncontrolled development of artificial intelligence (AI). The demonstration took place on Sept. 7, 2026, outside the Ministry of Digital Affairs, with the main objective of calling for stricter regulation of these technologies.
The protest was organized by the civic initiative Democratism, which seeks to promote public debate about how artificial intelligence is transforming society and, in particular, the labor market. The decision to make robots the protagonists of the demonstration was intended to create a symbolic image of the future that people could face as machines acquire increasingly advanced capabilities.
The participants included bipedal humanoid robots and quadrupedal models resembling robotic dogs. The devices were used as part of a demonstration intended to represent the rapid advancement of a technology that, according to the organizers, is no longer a distant possibility but a reality with tangible effects.
Robots march through Warsaw to demand new rules for uncontrolled AI development
During the demonstration, the robots performed coordinated movements, walked in circles, and waved flags while conveying messages about the future of employment and the need to establish limits on artificial intelligence. Among the slogans displayed were “Defend jobs,” “It’s time for rules,” and “Don’t wait, regulate.”
One of the humanoid robots present, identified as Agibot A3, participated in delivering the protest’s central message. The machine stated that the presence of these devices should serve as evidence that the technology is already part of reality and that its development requires a discussion about the consequences it could generate.
The Democratism initiative explained that the demonstration was intended to spark a conversation about the growing automation of different activities. The organizers are particularly concerned about the possibility that artificial intelligence systems combined with robots could take over tasks currently performed by human workers.
The debate is not limited to jobs that require physical labor. The expansion of AI tools has also raised questions about professions involving administrative activities, customer service, information analysis, and other occupations that have traditionally depended on cognitive abilities.
In this sense, the protest used robots themselves to represent a possible labor scenario for the coming years. The question raised by the organizers is how to ensure that the adoption of these technologies does not lead to massive job displacement without adequate mechanisms for worker protection and adaptation.

Poland moves forward with artificial intelligence regulation
The demonstration took place at a particularly relevant moment for Poland, which has begun implementing the European regulatory framework for artificial intelligence. The European Union’s AI Act establishes different obligations depending on the level of risk associated with each system and includes oversight mechanisms intended to promote the responsible use of the technology.
As part of this process, Poland is working on the creation and operation of national structures responsible for supervising artificial intelligence systems. The objective is to strike a balance between technological development and protecting citizens from potential risks.
Poland’s Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, met with representatives connected to the initiative and acknowledged that advances in artificial intelligence and robotics are creating new challenges for authorities. The concerns are increasing as systems capable of combining AI models with robots that can move and interact with their surroundings become more sophisticated.
The evolution of these technologies has enabled new generations of robots to perform increasingly complex tasks. The incorporation of cameras, sensors, navigation systems, and artificial intelligence models allows them to interpret certain aspects of their environment and respond to different instructions.
This transformation could generate benefits in sectors where machines perform dangerous, repetitive or physically demanding activities. However, it also raises questions about the number and types of jobs that could be affected by automation.
The future of work becomes the focus of the debate
The Warsaw protest was primarily symbolic, but it reflects a discussion taking place in different countries: how to take advantage of the benefits of artificial intelligence without allowing its expansion to generate social consequences that are difficult to control.
One of the main challenges will be preparing workers for changes that could take place in the labor market. This could include training programs, professional reskilling, and new educational strategies aimed at developing skills that complement the work performed by automated systems.
Technological advances do not necessarily mean that robots will replace people in every sector. In some fields, machines can function as support tools, increase productivity, and take on activities that may pose risks to human workers.
For this reason, one of the central issues in the discussion will be determining which tasks should remain under human supervision and which can be delegated to automated systems. It will also be necessary to establish responsibility when a decision made by an artificial intelligence system produces economic or social consequences.
