FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The price of gas has spiked at multiple gas stations in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio Wednesday, according to GasBuddy.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum for Gas Buddy, has been sounding the alarm on X as prices soar across the Midwest, saying it has been a “double spike day” as prices jumped from as high as $4.79 a gallon, then to $4.99.

As the national average sits at $4.27, De Haan describes “skyrocketing” prices in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin.
But, De Haan doesn’t seem to think this is the end of prices jumping, saying “just a wild, wild day, and it’s not over, folks. Sorry.”
The analyst says the war in Iran and refinery issues are the cause behind the increase. He says prices appear to be rising to $4.99 a gallon in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
Multiple gas stations in Fort Wayne are currently sitting at $4.79 a gallon for regular gas, with other areas reaching the $4.99 mark.
