{"id":10479,"date":"2026-06-04T10:42:17","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T10:42:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/10479\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T10:42:17","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T10:42:17","slug":"wisniewskis-last-gasp-goal-denies-eagles-victory-in-warsaw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/10479\/","title":{"rendered":"Wisniewski\u2019s \u00a0last-gasp goal denies Eagles Victory in Warsaw"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Super Eagles were \u00a0denied a first win in Poland when Przemyslaw Wisniewski struck a stunning long-range equaliser deep into stoppage time to earn the hosts a 2\u20132 draw in an international friendly at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Onuachu had calmly stroked home a penalty to put Nigeria 2\u20131 ahead in the second half but Wisniewski levelled with a stunning effort in the final play of the match deep into extra time \u00a0\u00a0to deny Eric Chelle\u2019s side all three points.<\/p>\n<p>Terem Moffi had opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 23rd\u00a0minute, only for Kacper Potulski to equalise for Poland on the stroke of half-time.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria dominated large spells of the second half and Chelle\u2019s side looked set to leave Warsaw with a victory until Wisniewski\u2019s thunderbolt shattered their hopes in the closing seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The Super Eagles were without key forwards including \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Victor_Osimhen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Victor Osimhen<\/a> and Ademola Lookman.<\/p>\n<p>Six changes were made at half-time by Nigeria, with Philip Otele, Raphael Onyedika, Zaidu Sanusi, Calvin Bassey, Rafiu Durosinmi and Semi Ajayi coming on.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria came into the match on the back of retaining the Unity Cup in London with a 3\u20130 victory over Jamaica , while Poland had suffered consecutive defeats to Sweden in the World Cup qualifying play-offs and Ukraine in a friendly.<\/p>\n<p>The draw was only the second senior meeting between the two nations.
