Billionaire Elon Musk, who backed Donald Trump\u2019s campaign for U.S. president in 2024, responded to a post by liberal investor Alex Soros celebrating the election result\u00a0with the words<\/a>\u00a0\u201cSoros Organization has taken over Hungary.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former U.S. President Barack Obama called the Hungarian election a \u201cvictory for democracy<\/a>, not just in Europe but around the world.\u201d He compared it to the 2023 Polish election, when current Prime Minister Tusk took over from his populist right-wing Law and Justice predecessor Mateusz Morawiecki.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of all, it\u2019s a testament to the resilience and determination of the Hungarian people \u2013 and a reminder to all of us to keep striving for fairness, equality and the rule of law,\u201d Obama\u00a0wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

France\u2019s far-right leader Marine Le Pen praised Orb\u00e1n\u2019s 16-year rule<\/a> and slammed EU officials in Brussels following his loss. \u201cThe satisfaction expressed by the European Commission, which has never ceased to overstep its prerogatives and competencies to the detriment of the power of the peoples<\/a>, should concern Hungarians about the persistence of this freedom so dearly defended for years,\u201d Le Pen said in a post on X.<\/p>\n

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed Orban\u2019s defeat in a post soon after the result was clear, saying,\u00a0\u201cHungary has chosen Europe.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Italy\u2019s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni thanked Orb\u00e1n for \u201cintense collaboration\u201d in the past.
