Poland\u2019s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Warsaw had received a positive signal from Washington about the possible establishment of a permanent U.S. military base on Polish soil. He voiced these words in Brussels, commenting on a letter from U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth regarding the prospects for hosting an American base in Poland.<\/p>\n
According to Tusk, he thoroughly reviewed the contents of the document and was pleasantly surprised by Washington\u2019s swift and positive reaction to the Polish authorities\u2019 decision to prepare for hosting a permanent American base.<\/p>\n
I am optimistic, but I did not expect such a rapid and positive response to our decisions regarding the urgent preparation of Poland for hosting a permanent base<\/p>\n

At the same time, he stressed that the letter is not a final decision.<\/p>\n
According to Tusk, the American side frankly notes the need to coordinate additional details and to conduct further consultations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are on a very good path toward obtaining a decision to establish a permanent American base, which would dramatically change the sense of security,\u201d the head of the Polish government stressed.<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that further steps in this direction would be taken in the near future.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Poland, W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz, said that Washington was positive about Warsaw\u2019s proposal to establish a permanent American base in Poland.<\/p>\n
