<\/p>\nHow can modern functionality be combined with a fondness for 20th-century design icons? The answer lies in a 58-metrow apartment in Krak\u00f3w, designed by Gabriela Huzarska-Sitek of Nona Studio. The space, created for a young married couple, is a sophisticated interplay of colour, geometry and craftsmanship. Although the developer\u2019s layout has remained intact, the interior has taken on a personalised character, where contemporary Polish design meets mid-century aesthetics and subtle references to the Polish People\u2019s Republic.<\/p>\n
The entrance to the flat is framed by a composition that immediately sets the tone for the entire project. The door, in a deep olive shade, creates the first striking splash of colour. It is accompanied by spacious built-in units in dark wood, fitted with long handles in natural oak. An oval, asymmetrical mirror in a black frame visually enlarges the space, whilst a minimalist coat rack in a cashmere shade adds a touch of lightness. The light-coloured wooden floor flows seamlessly onwards \u2013 towards the living area.<\/p>\n
A living room featuring design icons<\/p>\n
At the centre of the living area stands a sofa, above which hangs a hand-made punch-needle wool tapestry by Gabriela Huzarska-Sitek. This is a personal touch from the designer, emphasising the interior\u2019s artisanal character. The living room also features wooden furniture by Pastform \u2013 the Ellen coffee table and the retro LOTV chest of drawers \u2013 as well as Roman Modzelewski\u2019s iconic RM58 armchair from Vz\u00f3r. Sculptural totems from Totem Studio Warsaw add artistic energy to the space, whilst the Flowerpot lamp designed by Verner Panton brings a touch of timeless lightness.<\/p>\n
The palette of whites and greens has been enriched with rusty, terracotta, burgundy and pink accents, which appear in the accessories and textiles. The Sklo Union vase designed by Franti\u0161ek V\u00edzner, the modular Stoff Nagel candlestick and Malwina Konopacka\u2019s ceramics \u2013 the Nana vase and the Ucho mug \u2013 form a collection of objects that lend the interior a distinctive character.<\/p>\n
A kitchen in shades of green<\/p>\n
The kitchen was one of the clients\u2019 key requests \u2013 it was to be spacious, comfortable and green. The lower units in a shade of eucalyptus green are paired with a cashmere-coloured upper section, creating a harmonious yet striking composition. The cupboards, with their sharp, traditional edges, are complemented by gold handles that act as the interior\u2019s jewellery. Black accents add graphic precision to the whole.<\/p>\n
On the table sits a Branik stone tray, an Alessi Pulcina coffee maker and a coffee service from the Mirostowice Ceramics Works, designed by Adam Sadulski. A Sklo Union vase and ceramics by Malwina Konopacka complete the arrangement, introducing elements of contemporary Polish design.<\/p>\n

A bedroom in shades of sage<\/p>\n The private area is dominated by sage green, which, combined with the wooden bed, creates an atmosphere conducive to rest. A print by Nikodem Szpunar, in a minimalist style, hangs above the headboard. The Vuelta lamp from Ferm Living casts a soft, diffused light, whilst another Sklo Union vase \u2013 this time designed by Rudolf Schr\u00f6tter \u2013 sits on the windowsill.<\/p>\n Textiles in shades of beige, brown and rust, along with pink and terracotta cushions from Davis Fabrics, emphasise the warm character of the interior. The sage-coloured built-in furniture provides additional storage space, which was one of the design priorities.<\/p>\n A bathroom with a touch of the Polish People\u2019s Republic<\/p>\n The bathroom continues the flat\u2019s colour scheme. Cashmere-coloured built-in units are combined here with a dark wood vanity unit, whilst terrazzo-patterned tiles introduce a subtle nod to the aesthetics of the Polish People\u2019s Republic. Gold fittings from Omnires add a touch of elegance, whilst the oval mirror in a black frame brings balance to the composition.
