{"id":13775,"date":"2026-06-24T08:11:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T08:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/13775\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T08:11:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T08:11:13","slug":"poland-orders-shield-ais-v-bat-drones-for-naval-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/13775\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland orders Shield AI\u2019s V-BAT drones for naval operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Poland\u2019s Armament Agency has signed a contract with Shield AI for the acquisition of\u00a0V-BAT\u00a0vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intended to support Polish Navy operations.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"501\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/shield-ai-768x501.png\" class=\"attachment-medium_large size-medium_large\" alt=\"\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Credit: Shield AI<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0V-BAT force will be deployed aboard\u00a0a\u00a0Polish Navy\u00a0vessel to provide maritime domain awareness and\u00a0intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) support.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0added\u00a0capability\u00a0gives the\u00a0Polish military\u00a0an unmanned support system that\u00a0improves commanders\u2019 visibility\u00a0of\u00a0activity\u00a0and threats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The UAS features a ducted-fan design and has more than 12 hours of endurance and a heavy-fuel engine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Designed, tested, and deployed for contested electronic warfare environments, V-BAT delivers ISR and targeting capability at significantly lower logistical burden than larger NATO Class II and III systems. <\/p>\n<p>Its single-engine, enclosed-rotor design enables safe, unassisted launch and recovery from ship decks, urban rooftops, and austere environments, making it particularly effective for maritime and expeditionary operations, according to Shield AI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cV-BAT has proven its capabilities in Ukraine and beyond, particularly\u00a0in environments where\u00a0communications and GPS\u00a0links are disrupted or denied.\u00a0Operations in the Baltic\u00a0Sea, where\u00a0security threats against critical\u00a0energy and communications\u00a0infrastructure\u00a0are becoming more frequent, demand\u00a0reliable sensor platforms and systems in all weather\u00a0conditions\u00a0and sea states.
