{"id":13905,"date":"2026-06-25T04:20:26","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T04:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/13905\/"},"modified":"2026-06-25T04:20:26","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T04:20:26","slug":"poland-buys-shield-ai-v-bat-drone-to-support-maritime-isr-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/13905\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland Buys Shield AI V-BAT Drone to Support Maritime ISR Operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1782361226_197_WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poland is acquiring Shield AI\u2019s V-BAT uncrewed aerial vehicle to support the Polish Navy\u2019s maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vertical takeoff and landing drone, <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/01\/20\/ukrainians-american-drone-jamming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">already proven in Ukraine<\/a>, will be fielded on an unspecified Polish naval vessel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An undisclosed quantity will be delivered by year-end, as <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2026\/06\/poland-buys-v-bat-uavs-from-shield-ai-for-naval-forces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">per<\/a> Poland\u2019s Armaments Agency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/10\/03\/finland-baltic-cable-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">rising security threats in the Baltic Sea<\/a>, the V-BAT drone can \u201cserve as a force multiplier for Poland, Baltic Sea nations, and NATO,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/shield.ai\/shield-ais-v-bat-to-support-polish-naval-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">according<\/a> to Shield AI President and Co-founder Ryan Tseng.<\/p>\n<p>Made for Contested Environments<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shield AI designed and developed the <a href=\"https:\/\/shield.ai\/v-bat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">V-BAT<\/a> drone to sustain operations in highly contested electronic warfare environments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its ducted-fan design enables vertical takeoff and landing from ship decks, urban rooftops, and other austere locations without requiring a runway or launch equipment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Powered by a heavy fuel engine, the V-BAT has a maximum gross takeoff weight of 161 pounds (73 kilograms), a payload capacity of 40 pounds (18 kilograms), and endurance exceeding 12 hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The drone measures nearly 10 feet (3 meters) tall and has a wingspan of 12.5 feet (3.8 meters).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">V-BAT has been in service with or ordered by several other countries, including <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/02\/10\/armenia-us-vbat-drones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Armenia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/03\/31\/netherlands-vbat-drone-operational\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the Netherlands<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/02\/28\/romania-v-bat-drones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Romania<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/08\/05\/us-vbat-drone-test\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the US<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
