Saab announced that it has signed a contract with the Polish State Treasury Armaments Agency for the production and delivery of three A26-type submarines.<\/p>\n
The contract is valued at approximately SEK 47 billion, or about $4.84 billion based on recent exchange rates.<\/p>\n
The agreement also includes a weapon package and a training and support package.<\/p>\n
Saab said deliveries will occur continuously, with final deliveries scheduled during 2038.<\/p>\n
The A26 submarine is designed for demanding operational conditions in the Baltic Sea and engineered to operate quietly and remain undetected.<\/p>\n
Saab said submarines contribute to naval multi-domain operations through freedom of movement, stealth, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities.<\/p>\n
To support the contract and the Polish Navy\u2019s operation of the submarines, Saab plans to establish maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities in Poland.<\/p>\n
The company said it will work closely with Polish industry to support Poland\u2019s strategic autonomy.<\/p>\n
Poland will also operate the Swedish submarine HMS S\u00f6dermanland as a gap filler under a separate agreement between Poland and Sweden.<\/p>\n
Saab is a defense and security company headquartered in Sweden. The company designs, manufactures, and maintains systems across aeronautics, weapons, command and control, sensors, and underwater systems.<\/p>\n
