{"id":14661,"date":"2026-06-29T19:31:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T19:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/14661\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T19:31:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T19:31:09","slug":"poland-sets-new-all-time-national-temperature-record-with-40-5c-104-9f-in-slubice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/14661\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland sets new all-time national temperature record with 40.5\u00b0C (104.9\u00b0F) in S\u0142ubice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Poland\u2019s western border town of S\u0142ubice reached 40.5\u00b0C (104.9\u00b0F) on June 28, 2026, breaking the station\u2019s previous record of 39.5\u00b0C (103.1\u00b0F) from 1994 and surpassing the country\u2019s historic temperature benchmark of 40.2\u00b0C (104.4\u00b0F) measured at Pr\u00f3szk\u00f3w in 1921, just one day after the town set a new national June record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poland\u2019s western border town of S\u0142ubice reached 40.5\u00b0C (104.9\u00b0F) on June 28, breaking the station\u2019s previous record of 39.5\u00b0C (103.1\u00b0F) set on July 30, 1994, and surpassing the country\u2019s historic temperature benchmark of 40.2\u00b0C (104.4\u00b0F) measured at Pr\u00f3szk\u00f3w on July 29, 1921.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The milestone came just one day after S\u0142ubice established a new national June record of 38.9\u00b0C (102.0\u00b0F). Operational observations also reached 40.3\u00b0C (104.5\u00b0F) in Toru\u0144.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IMGW spokeswoman Agnieszka Prasek said operational data indicate the long-standing national benchmark has been exceeded. Warsaw was among the cities that activated public misting stations and water curtains to help people cope with the extreme temperatures, while emergency services remained on heightened alert for heat-related illnesses and an elevated wildfire risk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meteorologists said the heatwave is expected to end as a cold front moves into Poland, triggering severe thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.
