Poland has proposed that the United States establish a permanent military base in the western part of the country as part of efforts to strengthen NATO’s presence on its eastern flank.<\/p>\n
Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk announced the proposal during an interview with RMF FM radio, saying Warsaw had already submitted an official request to Washington earlier this year.<\/p>\n
In early June, Polish Defence Minister W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz said the government had formally proposed the creation of a permanent U.S. military base on Polish territory.<\/p>\n
Tomczyk said two potential locations had been identified: the Greater Poland and Lower Silesia regions. However, he noted that no final decision had been made and that another location could still be considered.<\/p>\n
According to the deputy minister, Poland favours a site in the country’s west to facilitate the deployment of additional NATO forces.<\/p>\n
He added that Poland has spent years investing in logistics infrastructure at airports in western regions to prepare for the possible arrival of military assistance from the NATO alliance.<\/p>\n
