{"id":17140,"date":"2026-07-15T09:53:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T09:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/17140\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T09:53:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T09:53:07","slug":"lithuanian-leader-warns-of-possible-russian-provocations-in-baltics-poland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/17140\/","title":{"rendered":"Lithuanian leader warns of possible Russian provocations in Baltics, Poland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>15 July 2026 13:26<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Lithuanian President Gitanas Naus\u0117da warned that intelligence information suggests Russia could be preparing provocations in Poland or the Baltic states aimed at testing NATO\u2019s unity.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Speaking in an <a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219);\" href=\"https:\/\/bns.lt\/naujiena\/gitanas-nauseda-perspeja-del-nauju-gresmiu-is-rusijos-lietuvos-kritinei-infrastrukturai-bns-interviu-wdo29900\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">interview<\/a> with BNS published on July 15, Naus\u0117da confirmed recent reports in foreign media that Moscow may be planning limited attacks against critical infrastructure in the region using conventional methods or other means, <a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219);\" href=\"https:\/\/caliber.az\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Caliber.Az<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe have received such signals from our intelligence services,\u201d Naus\u0117da noted. \u201cThey do not identify a specific place or time because that is simply impossible to determine. The other side may not even have completed its planning process, and we may only know about the planning itself or the intended objective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSo yes, I cannot deny that we have such information and that it concerns kinetic operations \u2013 not on a large scale, but targeted kinetic operations that are very likely to be directed against critical infrastructure,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Lithuanian leader did not provide specific evidence behind the assessment or reveal possible targets of the alleged preparations.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to Naus\u0117da, Lithuania has recently increased security measures around key transport and energy infrastructure in response to the potential threat.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He noted that authorities were preparing for a wide range of possible scenarios, including attacks that could disrupt the operation of strategically important facilities.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAnything that could stop these facilities from functioning is important because they matter not only in themselves but also because they ensure the functioning of the entire system, particularly our synchronisation with the continental European electricity grid,\u201d Naus\u0117da said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski also <a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219);\" href=\"https:\/\/www.polsatnews.pl\/wiadomosc\/2026-07-15\/sikorski-ostrzega-przed-prowokacja-rosji-z-uzyciem-ukrainskich-dronow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">warned<\/a> that Russia could be preparing a \u201cfalse flag\u201d operation involving the use of Ukrainian drones.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">NATO members along the alliance\u2019s eastern flank have repeatedly raised concerns over the growing threat of Russian sabotage and hybrid operations since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
