(AP Photo\/Ty ONeil)<br \/>\nBy Dan Spalding<br \/>News Now Warsaw<\/p>\n<p>WARSAW \u2014 On top of 90-degree temperatures today, the region is also dealing with wildfire smoke from Ontario, Canada and northern Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>The smoke was expected to move into the area overnight and is the reason for an air quality alert issued for today for Kosciusko County and areas to the north.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The smoke brings with it fine particulate matter that is expected to create unhealthy conditions as well as increased ozone levels that can affect some people.<\/p>\n<p>Officials predict you\u2019ll actually be able to smell the smoke today and if you\u2019re driving you\u2019re encouraged to use your car\u2019s air recirculation button to reduce smoke exposure from the outside air.<\/p>\n<p>Warnings about unhealthy air conditions Wednesday extended from Minnesota through Toronto and into New York. Unusually hot summer temperatures were expected, too.<\/p>\n<p>The best advice is to stay indoors to avoid both the smoke and the\u00a0<a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/heat-dome-record-temperatures-fb7664f71743f71beca4ce7447562ca2\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">extreme heat<\/a>, said Tyler Hasenstein, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose two things coinciding with each other is not good from a health perspective,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press reports that thousands of visitors were told to evacuate a remote Minnesota wilderness area accessible only by boat as wildfires send <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wildfires-smoke-deaths-climate-change-pm25-0791cd732dc63198e7cc30c9bbbd2f4a\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dangerously heavy smoke<\/a>\u00a0over the U.S. Midwest and Northeast this week.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100\u00a0<a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/western-wildfires-firefighters-air-tankers-e0ae4578be73ae1e04c017f038514cc3\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wildfires are burning<\/a> in Canada, where a train crew in northern Ontario filmed themselves surrounded by flames before being safely evacuated.
