The document replaces a 2023 agreement that has expired and broadens the partnership beyond individual technical topics.

Under the renewed framework, the two organisations will exchange expertise through consultations, workshops, study visits, benchmarking and joint analytical projects. They may also establish a dedicated working group for priority areas.

The scope now runs from route planning and design through construction and testing to commissioning and later infrastructure management. It also covers rail market liberalisation, capacity allocation and the operation of high-speed infrastructure, extending the work beyond engineering and into network administration.

The earlier memorandum produced workshops on high-speed turnouts, train and tunnel aerodynamics, railway acoustics, traffic control, telecommunications, market liberalisation and capacity allocation. Port Polska said its specialists also took part in technical visits to Spanish high-speed rail facilities.

Don’t miss…RheinCargo Extends Shell Rail Contract for Three Years

Spanish experience supports Poland’s 480 km HSR plan

ADIF manages nearly 4,000 km of high-speed railway, which Port Polska describes as Europe’s largest network. That operating scale gives the Polish company a reference point for infrastructure management as well as the planning and delivery of new lines.

The wider Port Polska programme includes a planned 480 km Y-shaped high-speed route linking Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań and Wrocław. The line is being designed for speeds of up to 350 km/h, while the fastest passenger trains are intended to operate at 320 km/h. The Warsaw–airport–Łódź section is expected to enter service in 2032, with the full Y line scheduled for completion in 2035.

Port Polska says advanced design work is under way across the route and construction has begun on the high-speed rail tunnel in Łódź. These project stages make the new memorandum relevant to work already moving through design, procurement and construction.

The company also has a separate four-year consultancy contract with Spanish engineering group INECO, signed in 2024 and valued at about PLN 2 million. That contract covers technical advice on long tunnels, 2×25 kV AC traction power, high-speed turnouts, ERTMS and line certification.

Port Polska did not disclose a financial value or announce a construction award with the new memorandum. Its stated outputs are knowledge exchange, analysis and potential joint work on priority technical and operational subjects.

News on railway transport, industry, and railway technologies from Railway Supply that you might have missed:

Poland and Spain have expanded high-speed rail cooperation through a three-year agreement between Port Polska and ADIF covering…

[2
3005,9,8969,3006,11982
post-18512","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-poland","tag-high-speed-trains","tag-poland","tag-railway-construction","tag-railway-infrastructure","tag-railway-technologies
["GET
