we were ready to shoot it down had it continued its flight,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The Kh-101, an air-launched cruise missile that can fly more than 2500km according to military experts, has been a workhorse of Russian missile strikes on Ukraine since the full-scale invasion in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Tusk later visited the site where the object fell, near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia, about 100km from the Ukrainian border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThere is no reason to think the target was Poland,\u201d he said, adding that Ukrainian fighter pilots had attempted to shoot down missiles approaching the Polish border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Tusk vowed to maintain support for Ukraine, saying his government would consider providing further aid including additional Patriot systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Bilateral relations have recently been strained by disputes over history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Ukraine\u2019s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said earlier in a post on X that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile crossed into Poland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The Russian embassy in Warsaw did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said he had discussed the situation with Tusk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThis incident is yet another reckless act by Russia and a dangerous consequence of its war against Ukraine,\u201d Rutte wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The object left a crater about 10 metres wide, the Polish interior ministry added on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">According to local authorities, it was located in farmland about 2km from residential buildings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Local resident Roman Bartoszek, who lives about 4km from where the object fell, said he had heard aircraft overhead and his windows had shaken.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The operational command of Poland\u2019s armed forces said an object had been detected in Polish airspace at 3.40am on Thursday and disappeared from radars soon afterwards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">An Mi-24 helicopter later went to the crash site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Police had received reports of a large bang and went to the site where they found the crater.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An object that came down in eastern Poland appears to be a Russian missile, Polish Prime Minister Donald&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":19455,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[37],"tags":[64,122,1063],"class_list":["post-19454","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-donald-tusk","tag-donald-tusk","tag-politics","tag-world"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19454","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=19454"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19454\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/19455"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=19454"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=19454"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=19454"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
