The long running tension between ex Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland and Dave Mustaine isn\u2019t staying buried.<\/p>\n

Poland has confirmed he\u2019ll be addressing years of allegations in his upcoming book, \u2018Now Leaving Metalopolis\u2019, and he\u2019s not sugarcoating it (Per Blabbermouth<\/a>):<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of things he said that\u2019s total B.S.\u201d<\/p>\n

That line alone says plenty about where things stand.<\/p>\n

Revisiting old wounds<\/p>\n

Poland\u2019s name has been tied to Megadeth<\/a> lore for decades, often in less than flattering ways, most notably, Mustaine wrote the track \u2018Liar\u2019 about him back in 1988, a label that stuck far longer than the song itself.<\/p>\n

Looking back, Poland<\/a> admits it likely had an impact:<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m sure it did affect my career, but my career was playing instrumental, whacked-out fusion [music]. I had a handful of people that listened to my music. Those people didn\u2019t even listen to MEGADETH, so it didn\u2019t matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even then, he\u2019s never fully leaned into resentment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t hold any grudges\u2026 People would tell me stuff he said [about me], and I\u2019d be, like, \u2018What are you gonna do?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Setting the record straight<\/p>\n

That restraint doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s staying silent anymore, the upcoming book will include his side of the story, something fans have rarely heard in full.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m writing a book [called \u2018Now Leaving Metalopolis\u2019] right now\u2026 And some of that stuff \u2014 I have my little rebuttal about stuff that was said [by Dave] about me. \u2019Cause, first of all, I don\u2019t hit girls. There\u2019s a lot of things he said [over the years about me] that\u2019s total B.S.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not framed as revenge, but more like overdue clarification.<\/p>\n

Lessons from the past<\/p>\n

Poland credits late Megadeth drummer Nick Menza with helping him move past the bitterness that could\u2019ve taken over:<\/p>\n

\u201cDude, you can\u2019t carry that around, man. You gotta let all that go.\u201d<\/p>\n

That perspective seems to have stuck, even now Poland isn\u2019t positioning this as a takedown, despite the history between the two camps.<\/p>\n

A story that isn\u2019t all heavy<\/p>\n

While the book will dig into darker chapters, Poland says it won\u2019t be all tension and fallout:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s close [to being completed]\u2026 you get to the part where it\u2019s the heavy stuff, and it\u2019s, like, yeah, it\u2019s heavy\u2026 But the funny stories are pretty funny, man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Poland\u2019s time in Megadeth may have ended decades ago, but the ripple effects haven\u2019t disappeared, from lawsuits to public jabs, the relationship between him and Mustaine<\/a> has always been complicated.<\/p>\n

Now, with \u2018Now Leaving Metalopolis\u2019 on the horizon, it looks like Poland is finally ready to put his version of events on record, whether it reopens old wounds or closes them for good.<\/p>\n
