{"id":22609,"date":"2026-08-25T20:08:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T20:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/22609\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T20:08:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T20:08:06","slug":"poland-receives-28-south-korean-made-k2-tanks-the-new-voice-of-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/22609\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland receives 28 South Korean-made K2 tanks \/ The New Voice of Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/96ac1fc2caa26037c827ab1334bd4502.png\" width=\"900\" height=\"450\" loading=\"eager\" fetchpriority=\"high\" alt=\"W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz \/ Twitter\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__content__head_img-info\">\n                W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz \/ Twitter\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Poland has received 28 South Korean-made K2 tanks assigned<br \/>\nto the 16th Mechanized Division, which is stationed near the border with<br \/>\nRussia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/english.nv.ua\/russian-war\/moscow-prepares-military-infrastructure-for-military-mobilization-as-losses-mount-50635117.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kaliningrad<br \/>\nOblast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Polish Defense Minister W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced<br \/>\nthe delivery on Aug. 25, in a post on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KosiniakKamysz\/status\/2092127897192407092\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The delivery is part of a contract Poland and South Korea<br \/>\nsigned in August 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The next deliveries will include the K2PL variant, which<br \/>\nwill be manufactured partly with Polish components.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThis is an important step toward expanding our industrial<br \/>\nproduction capabilities and another consistent effort to strengthen Poland\u2019s<br \/>\nsecurity,\u201d Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">According to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/wiadomosci.onet.pl\/swiat\/nowe-czolgi-dotarly-do-polski-zaczynamy-odliczanie-do-unikalnego-k2pl\/025grkg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Onet<\/a>,<br \/>\nthe contract calls for deliveries of 64 K2PL tanks to begin in 2028. Hyundai<br \/>\nRotem will manufacture three of the tanks in South Korea, while the remaining<br \/>\n61 will be produced by Poland\u2019s Zak\u0142ady Mechaniczne Bumar \u0141ab\u0119dy S.A.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Compared with the original design, the Polish version of the<br \/>\nK2 will include several modifications and upgrades. The tank will have two<br \/>\nlayers of protection against drones: an electronic warfare system designed to<br \/>\njam drones and disrupt their flight paths, and an active protection system<br \/>\nintended to destroy such targets directly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The tank will also feature reinforced armor and a remotely<br \/>\noperated weapon station equipped with a heavy machine gun.
