The move follows concerns over the company\u2019s efforts to combat fraudulent content, fake advertising, and illegal apps on its digital platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski announced the official request on social media platform X. He said the appeal was prepared following an analysis of available materials, including information received from Meta, as well as new reports on content oversight across its platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Digital platforms must bear full responsibility for their actions, which is why I have submitted a request to impose a fine of 1 billion zloty on Meta.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Krzysztof Gawkowski<\/p>\n<p>Poland demands stronger action against fraud on Meta<\/p>\n<p>Krzysztof Gawkowski stressed that Polish authorities will not tolerate an inadequate response from digital platforms to material that could harm users. He expects the European Commission to promptly launch proceedings and make a decision on sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>Inaction and inefficiency in combating advertising harmful to Poles and fraudulent content will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Krzysztof Gawkowski<\/p>\n<p>Poland\u2019s Minister of Digital Affairs also called on Meta to promptly introduce effective tools for detecting and removing fraudulent messages, misleading advertisements, and illegal apps.<\/p>\n<p>According to Gawkowski, the evidence gathered is sufficient to begin proceedings.
