An apartment in earth tones is a project in which 70 square metres of space in Krak\u00f3w has been transformed into a calm, organic composition for Kamila and Amadeusz. The couple, who work from home, were looking for an interior that offered a sense of calm, a clear division of functions and an atmosphere of closeness to nature. Weronika Sypu\u0142a proposed solutions that made it possible to create a bright, cosy and thoughtfully designed space.<\/p>\n

From the outset, the owners emphasised that the flat was to be their \u2018safe haven\u2019. They expected a clear distinction between work, relaxation and rest, whilst also wanting a natural colour palette, botanical accents and subtle originality. The designer responded to these needs by dividing the living area into three complementary zones \u2013 a kitchen-diner, a lounge area, and a space dedicated solely to relaxation, free from electronic devices.<\/p>\n

Functional living area<\/p>\n

The kitchen and dining area are designed around a combination of dark brown wood, beige and a muted, light green. It is this shade of green that features on the rounded island, to which a wooden table has been \u2018snuggled\u2019, creating a single, functional unit. This arrangement has become the natural centre of the kitchen \u2013 the place around which the household\u2019s daily life revolves.<\/p>\n

The raw granite worktop and wall tiles are set against the soft curves of the island and the upholstered chairs. The contrast between the hard stone and the rounded forms has given the space balance and harmony with the rest of the living area. The seating area features a brick-coloured sofa, complemented by a pouffe that allows the layout to be rearranged quickly. The relaxation zone is defined by a wide, green armchair, which, thanks to its proportions, is ideal for complete relaxation.<\/p>\n

The two zones are separated by an openwork cantilevered bookcase, finished in colours that complement the interior. It has become a natural, plant-based partition \u2013 a space for flowers, decorations, books and subtle lighting. Natural gypsum plaster has been used in the living area, extending onto the structure of the utility room as well. Thanks to concealed doors, this area has been visually \u2018drawn into\u2019 the interior, without unnecessarily emphasising its function.<\/p>\n

Towards the bedrooms<\/p>\n

Further down the corridor, a classic olive-coloured door with stucco detailing appears. This single contrasting accent catches the eye and leads to the utility rooms. The corner bedroom, which is very well lit, has been finished with a smooth surface so that the light can take centre stage here. The atmosphere is created by the accessories \u2013 lamps and bedside tables in bold colours, and a large hanging rattan lamp.<\/p>\n

The layout of the room has allowed the built-in storage to be divided into a ladies\u2019 and a gentlemen\u2019s section. The lighter-coloured wardrobe has beige fronts with frosted glass, which adds a sense of lightness and subtlety. The darker, gentlemen\u2019s section introduces warmth and character, creating a harmonious whole.<\/p>\n

Study and bathroom<\/p>\n

The study has been designed in a typical office style, with large height-adjustable desks and ergonomic chairs. To add warmth to the space, wallpaper with a fabric-like texture has been used. It covers the wall behind the desks and extends to the back of a decorative bookcase, which conceals office equipment as well as personal items \u2013 books and small decorative pieces.<\/p>\n

The bathroom is a natural extension of the aesthetic of the entire flat. It brings together beige, brown, dark wood and green. Small green tiles delineate the shower area, whilst a second variation of this colour \u2013 in the form of veins on the stone washbasin top \u2013 lends the room a unique character. A mirror with an irregular shape emphasises the organic forms present throughout the design.<\/p>\n

Details<\/p>\n

The flat features items from the owners\u2019 private collection: lamps sourced from vintage shops, hand-moulded mugs from pottery workshops, and a picture made of dried flowers in glass, created by Kamila. It is precisely these elements that lend the space an individual dimension and ensure that Weronika Sypu\u0142a\u2019s design is not only aesthetically coherent but also deeply personal.<\/p>\n
