The foreign ministers of Germany, France and Poland plan to discuss joint approaches to current international challenges on Thursday.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Germany’s Foreign Ministry in Berlin announced that the agenda for the meeting, held in the so-called Weimar Triangle format, covers topics ranging from hybrid threats and the situation in the Middle East, to EU enlargement and a reform of EU foreign policy.<\/p>\n

Hybrid threats are understood to mean a combination of military, economic, intelligence and propaganda measures, which can be used to influence public opinion. State-sponsored cyberattacks are included in this category.<\/p>\n

Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul met his EU counterparts in the Irish town of Wicklow on Wednesday, including his counterparts from France and Poland, Jean-No\u00ebl Barrot and Rados\u0142aw Sikorski.<\/p>\n

In Ireland, the focus was on reactions to the German government’s attribution of responsibility to Russia for the attempted attack on August 4 at Leipzig airport.<\/p>\n

The Weimar Triangle was established in 1991 as a forum for dialogue by the then foreign ministers of the three countries in the central German city of Weimar.<\/p>\n

Initially, its primary purpose was to facilitate the integration of Poland and other Eastern European states into the European Union and NATO.<\/p>\n
