Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 denied the claims in a post on X<\/a> on Sunday, calling it \u201cfake news.\u201d <\/p>\n

Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 was responding to a X post<\/a> by Poland\u2019s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski that referenced the Washington Post claim. \u201cThis would explain a lot, Peter. @FM_Szijjarto,\u201d Sikorski wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cFake news as always,\u201d Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 responded<\/a> to Sikorski. \u201cYou are telling lies in order to support Tisza Party to have a pro-war puppet government in Hungary. You will not have it!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Post\u2019s story also said that Russia\u2019s foreign intelligence service (SVR) had proposed staging an assassination attempt against Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n to boost plummeting public support ahead of next month\u2019s parliamentary election in that country. It cited an \u201can internal report for the SVR obtained and authenticated by a European intelligence service and reviewed by The Washington Post.\u201d <\/p>\n

Orb\u00e1n goes head to head in the polls next month with conservative opposition leader P\u00e9ter Magyar, for the Tisza Party, who has emerged<\/a> as a serious challenger.<\/p>\n

Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 extended his defense against the allegations in a post on Facebook. <\/p>\n

Hungarians can \u201csee clearly that this fake news, these lies that are part of Ukrainian propaganda, are not created for anything else, except to support the Tisza Party in the Hungarian election and to influence the outcome of the elections,\u201d Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 said<\/a> on Facebook.<\/p>\n
