And of course, Sili\u0146a\u2019s classic response \u2013 it\u2019s all for security. That the public simply doesn\u2019t understand what security means,\u201d Me\u017eals writes on social media.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cReally? While working at Interpol, I personally escorted internationally wanted criminals. I flew economy class, sat in the last row by the toilet. No VIP, no business class. And those were real security risks \u2013 not comfort in business class! So don\u2019t tell us \u2018New Unity\u2019 fairy tales about security. People, how long will WE tolerate this?\u201d Me\u017eals continues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As previously reported, significant public and political backlash was triggered by claims made by former head of the State Chancellery, J\u0101nis Citskovskis, who stated that a visit by Prime Minister Evika Sili\u0146a and two other individuals to the VIP lounge at Amsterdam Airport had cost around 4,000 euros.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Citskovskis said he had refused to approve payment of this invoice but was suspended,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">and later another official authorized the payment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to copies of invoices available to the LETA news agency, the stay of Prime Minister Evika Sili\u0146a (New Unity), her adviser Ieva Z\u012bberga, and her bodyguard in the VIP lounge at Amsterdam Airport during a trip to and from an official visit to the United States in March 2024 cost a total of 4,184 euros including VAT.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the 10th of March, the VIP lounge services for Sili\u0146a, Z\u012bberga, and the bodyguard amounted to 1,820 euros, while on the 15th of March \u2013 1,638 euros.
