His wife,\u00a0Ewa Blackburn\u00a0(right),\u00a0is\u00a0an Adjunct History Instructor and is\u00a0currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at ULM.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>MONROE, La.\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Husband and wife Dr. Chris Blackburn and Ewa Blackburn have once again been awarded<br \/>\n                        scholarships for advanced language study by the prestigious Polish National Agency<br \/>\n                        for Academic Exchange (NAWA). Dr. Blackburn is a Professor of History\u00a0in\u00a0the ULM College<br \/>\n                        of Arts, Education, and Sciences. Ewa Blackburn, a graduate of the ULM M.A.\u00a0program<br \/>\n                        in History, serves as an Adjunct History Instructor and is an Ed.D. Candidate in Curriculum<br \/>\n                        and Instruction at ULM.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Funded under the NAWA Summer Courses program, the scholarship\u00a0provides for\u00a0all instruction,<br \/>\n                        accommodation, full board, and a stipend. This summer, the\u00a0Blackburns\u00a0will attend<br \/>\n                        the School of Polish Language and Culture at the University of Silesia in Katowice,<br \/>\n                        Poland. The intensive, in-person program\u00a0operates\u00a0seven days a week with a rigorous<br \/>\n                        schedule of classes, lectures, and cultural events.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was happy to learn that the\u00a0Blackburns\u00a0have been invited to further their studies<br \/>\n                        in Poland,\u201d said Dr. Jeffrey Anderson, Director of the ULM History program. \u201cTheir<br \/>\n                        record as scholars and instructors speaks for itself, and it is great to see them<br \/>\n                        honored in a way that will also help them further hone their language skills and research.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Established in 2017, NAWA is dedicated to fostering international collaboration and<br \/>\n                        promoting Polish language and culture abroad. These efforts are designed to enhance<br \/>\n                        the international standing of Polish academic institutions and researchers. In addition<br \/>\n                        to their formal language studies, the\u00a0Blackburns\u00a0plan to\u00a0utilize\u00a0their time in Poland<br \/>\n                        to conduct archival research in both Warsaw and Katowice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This marks the second year that the\u00a0Blackburns\u00a0have been chosen by NAWA to study in<br \/>\n                        Poland.
