Ryanair has welcomed a Polish court\u2019s decision to convict an \u201cunruly passenger\u201d who disrupted a flight, becoming abusive with staff and forcing the plane to divert.<\/p>\n
The passenger was slapped with a fine after the incident, which took place on flight FR2746 from London Stansted<\/a> to Kaunas on 24 July 2024.<\/p>\n After this passenger failed to comply with crew instructions and became abusive, the flight was forced to divert to Warsaw-Modlin with over 180 passengers and six crew members. The disruptive passenger was found guilty in the District Court in Warsaw-Modlin<\/a> and received a PLN 17,000 penalty.<\/p>\n Ryanair\u2019s Jade Kirwan said: \u201cWe welcome the decision of the District Court<\/a> in Warsaw\u2011Modlin to convict this disruptive passenger and impose a PLN 17,000 penalty.<\/p>\n \u201cThis ruling clearly confirms that such behaviour is unacceptable \u2013 it exposes passengers and crew to stress and disruption, while also generating significant operational costs for the airline. A clear example of this was the flight from London to Kaunas, which was forced to divert to Warsaw-Modlin, requiring the intervention of police and border guard services.<\/p>\n \u201cThis conviction sends a clear signal that breaches of onboard conduct will be consistently enforced under Ryanair\u2019s zero tolerance policy for aggressive passengers.<\/p>\n \u201cWe believe this will effectively limit similar incidents in the future and support the safety and comfort of travel for both passengers and crew.\u201d<\/p>\n A Ryanair spokesperson added: \u201cRyanair<\/a> is committed to ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a comfortable and stress-free environment, free of unnecessary disruption caused by a tiny number of unruly passengers.<\/p>\n \u201cRyanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take action to combat unruly passenger behaviour on aircraft for the benefit of the vast majority of passengers who do not disrupt flights.\u201d<\/p>\n On Thursday, Ryanair also welcomed a decision by a French court to convict two “unruly passengers” who disrupted a flight in May last year – forcing it to divert<\/a>. The two passengers were handed a fine and suspended sentence after an incident onboard flight FR9251 from London Stansted to Ibiza on 17 May 2025, when the pair became abusive towards fellow passengers and failed to comply with crew instructions.<\/p>\n
