WARSAW \u2014 Poland said it is ready to host additional American troops to reinforce NATO\u2019s eastern flank following Washington\u2019s plans to reduce its military presence in Germany.<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister W\u0142adyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said the Polish-American alliance remains central to Poland\u2019s security strategy.<\/p>\n
\u201cPoland is ready to receive additional American soldiers in order to strengthen NATO\u2019s eastern flank and provide even better protection for Europe,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n
The remarks came after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced plans to withdraw around 5,000 US troops from Germany, while President Donald Trump signaled the possibility of further reductions in Europe.<\/p>\n
Germany currently hosts between 35,000 and 37,000 US military personnel and serves as a key operational hub for American forces across Europe.<\/p>\n
Poland has pushed for a stronger long-term US military presence since Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, viewing it as a major deterrent against Moscow.<\/p>\n
Warsaw has increased defense spending and expanded cooperation with Washington through rotational troop deployments, logistics facilities, and missile defense systems.<\/p>\n
The planned troop reductions have raised concerns among European allies over Washington\u2019s future commitment to NATO.<\/p>\n
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk recently warned that internal fragmentation poses the greatest threat to the alliance, urging stronger transatlantic coordination.<\/p>\n
