POLAND OH- \u00a0Poland came out swinging and never took its foot off the gas Wednesday night, steamrolling Southern in five innings to lock up a sectional championship.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs scratched across a run in the first, but the game flipped completely in the second when Poland exploded for eight runs and buried Southern early. Once the lineup got rolling, there was no stopping it.<\/p>\n
Cassie Blanch led the charge at the plate, stacking two hits including a three-run bomb in the fourth inning. She finished the day with three RBI and provided one of several big-time swings in the Bulldogs\u2019 offensive barrage.<\/p>\n
Ali Blinsky and Leanna Boccieri each drove in three runs as well, with Blinsky ripping a double and Boccieri delivering clutch knocks to keep the line moving. Avery Jakubovic chipped in two RBI of her own while Kilaney Berendt added a double as Poland piled up eight hits and drew nine walks.<\/p>\n
Blinsky also shoved in the circle. The Bulldogs ace punched out 11 hitters across four innings while allowing just five hits to keep Southern from building any momentum.<\/p>\n
Southern had a few loud swings of its own. Realea Carosiello tripled and collected two hits, while Destiny Huffman legged out a triple and Riley Digman added a double for the Indians.<\/p>\n
Addy Martin took the loss after battling through three innings against a Bulldogs lineup that stayed aggressive from the jump.<\/p>\n
