{"id":7573,"date":"2026-05-19T15:24:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T15:24:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/7573\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T15:24:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T15:24:22","slug":"poland-presses-trump-on-canceled-us-deployment-we-will-get-answers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/7573\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland presses Trump on canceled US deployment: &#8216;We will get answers&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Poland said questions remain about why President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> canceled the deployment of thousands of U.S. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/military\/\">troops<\/a> to the European country.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/poland-seeks-answers-after-pentagon-scraps-planned-us-armored-brigade-rotation\">an interview<\/a> published Tuesday, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Zalewski said he plans to press the Trump administration on why the Pentagon <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/4567723\/us-army-deployment-4000-soldiers-poland\/\">canceled the deployment<\/a> of more than 4,000 Army troops, a move that reduced American military levels in Europe to near pre-2022 levels. The previous day, Polish deputy prime minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz warned that the reorganization \u201ccannot be made at the cost of the biggest ally of the United States in Europe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will ask questions, and I guess that we will get answers,\u201d Zalewski told Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remember that President Trump, directly talking with President Nawrodski, president of Poland, declared that the U.S. will maintain its armed forces in our country and the number of armed forces,\u201d he added, pointing to Trump\u2019s promise in September that \u201cwe\u2019ll be staying in Poland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zalewski and others in the Polish delegation are holding meetings in Washington this week. Despite concerns over the halted troop rotation, he stressed that Poland remains a \u201cmodel ally\u201d to the U.S. and that his delegation will focus on the future structure of NATO and defense cooperation between the U.S. and Europe during talks in the coming days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/military\">U.S. military<\/a> confirmed last Wednesday that it canceled the deployment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, also known as the \u201cBlack Jack\u201d brigade, based at Fort Hood, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/texas\/\">Texas<\/a>. The unit had been preparing for a nine-month rotation to Poland as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nato\/\">NATO<\/a> mission that expanded following Russia\u2019s invasion of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ukraine\/\">Ukraine<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The decision sparked controversy across the board, with House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/4570395\/rogers-frustrated-canceled-poland-deployment-europe\/\">telling the Pentagon<\/a> he was \u201cnot happy\u201d with the development.\u00a0Polish officials echoed the sentiment, saying they were confused by the move due to the country\u2019s close alliance with the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/4568654\/us-troop-presence-europe-reduction-trump\/\">EUROPE LOOKS TO UNDERSTAND PENTAGON TROOP RESTRUCTURES<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand that there is a reorganization of the American military presence in Europe,\u201d Kosiniak-Kamysz said during a ceremony in eastern Poland on Monday, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/global\/europe\/2026\/05\/19\/polish-officials-vent-worries-over-scrapped-us-troop-deployment\/\">according to <\/a>Defense News. \u201cBut this reorganization cannot be made at the cost of the biggest ally of the United States in Europe.
