{"id":8572,"date":"2026-05-23T10:49:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-23T10:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/8572\/"},"modified":"2026-05-23T10:49:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T10:49:07","slug":"nigeria-deepens-bilateral-ties-with-poland-to-boost-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/8572\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria deepens bilateral ties with Poland to boost economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"image-caption\">Foreign Affairs Minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (right) hosts Poland&#8217;s Deputy Prime Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria has deepened its bilateral ties with European nation Poland in a bid to boost the country\u2019s economy and other sectors.\n<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s Foreign Affairs Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/guardian.ng\/news\/tinubu-appoints-bianca-ojukwu-foreign-affairs-minister\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu<\/a> made this known on Saturday via a post on her official X account after hosting Poland\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski in Abuja on Thursday, May 21, 2026.\n<\/p>\n<p>Odumegwu-Ojukwu said both countries are keen to deepen bilateral ties established in 1962, highlighting education exchanges and support for Nigerian students impacted by the Ukraine conflict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonoured to receive Poland\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy H.E Krzysztof Gawkowski, visiting Nigeria for the first time, following Poland\u2019s recently concuded peaceful presidential elections,\u201d she said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigerians living in Poland are estimated to be close to 6,000 in number, with education being a strategic pillar of our bilateral relations. Nigeria has benefited from the Polish-Nigerian technical and scientific exchange of students, through which several Nigerians were trained in Polish Universities, with Polish lecturers and scientists teaching at Nigerian universities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis visit also presented an opportunity to thank the good people of Poland for supporting Nigerian students affected by the conflict in Ukraine.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigeria-Poland relations began on 30 May 1962, and have remained very cordial and the Nigerian government is committed to strengthening relations between Nigeria and Poland in different sectors of the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Odumegwu-Ojukwu said discussions emphasised new cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital transformation, cybersecurity, maritime security, defense, infrastructure, trade, and tourism, with Gawkowski describing Nigeria as a key African economic and tech hub interested in Polish firms\u2019 expansion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also exploring new partnerships in trade, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cybersecurity, maritime security, defence, infrastructure, education, culture and tourism,\u201d the minister explained.\n<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the visit aligns with Nigeria\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda reforms to improve business ease and attract foreign investment, including from Poland, amid an estimated 6,000 Nigerians living there and ongoing people-to-people links.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda have continued to improve ease of doing business and to attract foreign investment, an incentive for Polish firms to expand operations in Nigeria,\u201d Odumegwu-Ojukwu said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe polish Deputy PM  <a href=\"https:\/\/guardian.ng\/news\/two-senior-poland-military-leaders-resign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Krzysztof Gawkowski<\/a> who came with a strong delegation described Nigeria as a strategic partner and one of Africa\u2019s leading economic and technology hubs. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe reaffirmed Poland\u2019s commitment to cooperation in AI, digital transformation, cybersecurity and private sector development, while commending Nigeria\u2019s role in regional stability.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe noted that several Polish companies want to expand in Nigeria\u2019s digital and infrastructure sectors and invited Nigerian firms to explore opportunities in Poland.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Odumegwu-Ojukwu assured that <a href=\"https:\/\/guardian.ng\/news\/nigeria-poland-deepen-ties-on-digital-economy-defence-agric\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nigeria and Poland<\/a> will continue to strengthen political consultations, economic and technology partnerships, and people-to-people links.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Foreign Affairs Minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (right) hosts Poland&#8217;s Deputy Prime Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski Nigeria has deepened its bilateral&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":8573,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[6951,229,6952,9],"class_list":["post-8572","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-poland","tag-bilateral-ties","tag-economy","tag-nigeria","tag-poland"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8572","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8572"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8572\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/8573"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8572"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8572"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/poland\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8572"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
