Quando completou 20 anos de publica\u00e7\u00e3o, a revista Classic Rock apresentou listas com os 100 melhores \u00e1lbuns de cada uma das quatro \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas do s\u00e9culo passado. As \u00fanicas regras eram: 1) Fugir do trabalho mais \u00f3bvio; e 2) N\u00e3o repetir artista\/banda \u2013 exceto se fosse um disco em grupo e outro em carreira solo ou projeto paralelo.<\/p>\n

Quando chegou nos anos 1990, o primeiro lugar acabou quebrando completamente o que havia sido imposto. Afinal de contas, se trata do disco mais vendido dos \u00faltimos 40 anos em qualquer segmento musical. De resto, se tentou ao menos respeitar o que foi previamente estabelecido pelos pr\u00f3prios.<\/p>\n

Lan\u00e7ado em 12 de agosto de 1991, o trabalho autointitulado do Metallica<\/a> \u2013 tamb\u00e9m conhecido como “Black Album”<\/a> \u2013 foi o quinto da carreira da banda. Nele, o grupo explorava novas sonoridades, dando in\u00edcio \u00e0 parceria com o produtor canadense Bob Rock.<\/p>\n

Pela primeira vez os m\u00fasicos usaram tr\u00eas tipos de afina\u00e7\u00f5es diferentes: a tradicional em mi, mi bemol e r\u00e9. A atmosfera mais dark e reflexiva das m\u00fasicas n\u00e3o era apenas uma mudan\u00e7a de abordagem superficial. Al\u00e9m do amadurecimento natural que a idade traz, tr\u00eas dos quatro integrantes passaram por div\u00f3rcios no per\u00edodo \u2013 James Hetfield<\/a> era a exce\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Ao contr\u00e1rio do que faziam at\u00e9 ent\u00e3o, Hetfield e Lars Ulrich<\/a> inclu\u00edram Kirk Hammett<\/a> e Jason Newsted<\/a> no processo de desenvolvimento das can\u00e7\u00f5es, visando dar um clima mais pr\u00f3ximo do que faziam ao vivo. “Metallica” vendeu at\u00e9 hoje cerca de 32 milh\u00f5es de c\u00f3pias em todo o mundo.<\/p>\n
