Dup\u0103 cum spuneam, un dezvoltator din lumea opern source,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/social.hails.org\/@hailey?ref=itsfoss.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Hailey<\/a>, a reu\u0219it s\u0103 foloseasc\u0103 un driver Vxd din Windows 98 ca s\u0103 permit\u0103 ini\u021bializarea mediului Linux pe acest sistem de operare. \u0218i pentru c\u0103 Windows 98 nu avea suport pentru folosirea \u00eentreruperilor standard din Linux, implementarea WSL9x, se folose\u0219te de suportul pentru managementul erorilor ca s\u0103 rezolve treaba asta. \u0218i a\u0219a a ie\u0219it wsl.com, un mic excecutabil DOS pe 16 bi\u021bi, care reruteaz\u0103 informa\u021biile venite din Linux \u00eentr-o sesiune command prompt de MS-DOS.<\/p>\n<p>\u0218i mai tare este c\u0103 WSK9x nu are nevoie de virtualizare \u0219i \u00een teorie poate func\u021biona pe orice hardware ce poate duce Windows 98 (adic\u0103 de la un CPU i486 \u00eencoace, ce e \u00eenc\u0103 suportat de kernel-ul Linux).<\/p>\n<p>M\u0103 g\u00e2ndesc ce ar fi \u00eensemnat s\u0103 avem acum 20 de ani (pe Windows 95, 98 sau ME) suport pentru Linux, direct \u00een Windows. Cred c\u0103 ar fi fost o chestie cu impact major asupra modului \u00een care Linux era perceput atunci.<\/p>\n<p>Dup\u0103 cum am zis la \u00eenceput, proiectul e interesant pentru c\u0103 se poate \u0219i nu pentru c\u0103 acum ar aduce vreo utilitate, de\u0219i nu sunt foarte sigur c\u0103 nu mai sunt PC-uri cu Windows 98 care s\u0103 fie \u00eenc\u0103 func\u021bionale.
