Aici se construie\u0219te Tunelul de baz\u0103 Brenner, o galerie feroviar\u0103 de 64 de kilometri, inclus\u0103 \u00een re\u021beaua TEN-T a Uniunii Europene, care finan\u021beaz\u0103 o parte semnificativ\u0103 a lucr\u0103rilor, potrivit <a href=\"https:\/\/de.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/05\/01\/weltrekord-made-in-europe-unter-den-alpen-entsteht-der-langste-eisenbahntunnel-der-welt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Euronews.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Proiectul este esen\u021bial pentru transportul de m\u0103rfuri \u00eentre nordul \u0219i sudul continentului, f\u0103c\u00e2nd parte dintr-un coridor ce leag\u0103 Scandinavia de Sicilia. \u00cen prezent, traficul rutier intens de pe autostrada Brenner provoac\u0103 blocaje \u0219i poluare, iar vechea linie ferat\u0103, construit\u0103 \u00een secolul XIX, nu mai face fa\u021b\u0103 volumului actual.<\/p>\n<p>Noul tunel, construit la baza muntelui, va permite circula\u021bia unor trenuri mai lungi \u0219i mai rapide, reduc\u00e2nd semnificativ transportul rutier. Costurile totale se apropie de 11 miliarde de euro, din care UE a alocat p\u00e2n\u0103 acum 2,3 miliarde.
