MOSCOW, Idaho \u2014 A Moscow couple and the child\u2019s grandfather have been sentenced in connection with the 2024 kidnapping of a Pullman infant and flight to Mexico.<\/p>\n

According to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office, Aaron Aung failed to return his daughter to her biological mother after a court-ordered visitation in May 2024. Authorities said Aung and his fianc\u00e9e, Nadia Cole, fled with the child to Mexico on June 1, 2024.<\/p>\n

While in Mexico, investigators determined Aaron Aung was communicating with his father, Jaimes Aung, about the investigation and how to avoid law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Mexican authorities located Aaron Aung and Cole in July 2024. They were arrested and deported to the United States. The child was reunited with her lawful parent in Whitman County.<\/p>\n

Aaron Aung and Jaimes Aung were convicted at trial of conspiracy to commit international parental kidnapping and international parental kidnapping. Both men sought new trials, but a judge denied their motions.<\/p>\n

Aaron Aung was sentenced to 36 months in prison followed by three years of probation. Jaimes Aung was sentenced to 30 months in prison and one year of probation.<\/p>\n

Cole pleaded guilty to international parental kidnapping, and a second charge was dismissed. She was sentenced to six months in jail and one year of probation.<\/p>\n
