{"id":18964,"date":"2026-05-14T16:23:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T16:23:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/russia\/18964\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T16:23:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T16:23:20","slug":"unacceptable-hungarys-top-diplomat-condemns-attacks-on-ukraines-zakarpattia-to-russian-envoy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/russia\/18964\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Unacceptable&#8217; \u2014 Hungary&#8217;s top diplomat condemns attacks on Ukraine&#8217;s Zakarpattia to Russian envoy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban said she protested Russia&#8217;s attack on Ukraine&#8217;s Zakarpattia Oblast during a conversation with Russian Ambassador Evgeny Stanislavov on May 14.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I told the Russian ambassador that it is completely unacceptable to Hungary that Zakarpattia, inhabited by Hungarians, is also being attacked,&#8221; Orban <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/987672687099483\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">said<\/a> in a Facebook video.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I emphasized that <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/tag\/russia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Russia<\/a> must do everything in its power to secure an immediate <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/tag\/ceasefire\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ceasefire<\/a> and bring about a peaceful and lasting end to the war as soon as possible,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>The comments came after Hungary <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/after-unprecedented-attack-on-ukraines-neighboring-zakarpattia-oblast-hungarys-pm-to-summon-russian-ambassador\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">summoned<\/a> the Russian ambassador following Moscow&#8217;s latest mass attack against Ukraine, which included what Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar described as an unprecedented number of drones targeting <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/tag\/zakarpattia-oblast\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zakarpattia Oblast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Russia <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/breaking-russia-launches-over-200-shahed-drones-towards-central-ukraine\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">launched<\/a> more than 800 drones during the May 13 attack, killing at least 14 people and injuring dozens more all around Ukraine, including children.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s western Zakarpattia Oblast, home to a sizable Hungarian minority, was among the regions targeted.
