Neutrofiler \u00e4r prim\u00e4rt viktiga f\u00f6r att bek\u00e4mpa infektioner, men i en tum\u00f6rmilj\u00f6 kan de anta andra funktioner.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00f6r\u00e4ndras under behandlingens g\u00e5ng<\/p>\n<p>Studien visar att neutrofilernas beteende inte \u00e4r statiskt utan f\u00f6r\u00e4ndras n\u00e4r behandlingen s\u00e4tts in. N\u00e4r immunsystemet aktiveras produceras signal\u00e4mnet interferon-gamma, vilket i sin tur f\u00e5r neutrofilerna att b\u00f6rja uttrycka proteinet PD-L1.<\/p>\n<p>Detta protein fungerar som en broms p\u00e5 T-cellerna, de immunceller som \u00e4r ansvariga f\u00f6r att d\u00f6da tum\u00f6rceller.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e4ttre effekt utan neutrofiler<\/p>\n<p>I experimentella modeller j\u00e4mf\u00f6rdes m\u00f6ss med normala niv\u00e5er av neutrofiler med m\u00f6ss som helt saknade dessa celler. Resultaten visade att n\u00e4r neutrofilerna var fr\u00e5nvarande fungerade flera typer av immunterapi mer effektivt; tum\u00f6rerna krympte i h\u00f6gre grad och fler aktiverade T-celler kunde penetrera tum\u00f6rv\u00e4vnaden.
