I USA har studien v\u00e4ckt stor uppm\u00e4rksamhet \u2013 men enligt s\u00f6mnexperter finns det ingen anledning att f\u00e5 panik riktigt \u00e4n. <\/p>\n<p>Studien \u00e4r gjord vid SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University i Brooklyn, New York, och \u00e4r \u00e4nnu inte publicerad eftersom den v\u00e4ntar p\u00e5 att granskas av andra forskare. Enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/11\/05\/well\/melatonin-heart-health-study.html#:~:text=The%20risk%20of%20heart%20failure%20was%204.6%20percent%20for%20those,higher%20risk%20of%20heart%20failure.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">New York Times<\/a> menar experter att studien inte visar n\u00e5got s\u00e4kert samband mellan melatonin och hj\u00e4rtsvikt \u2013 och att hj\u00e4rtsvikten snarare kan bero p\u00e5 s\u00f6mnproblem i sig. Men vad visade den uppm\u00e4rksammade studien egentligen?<\/p>\n<p>Genom att analysera internationell h\u00e4lsodata fr\u00e5n \u00f6ver 130\u00a0000 vuxna under en fem\u00e5rsperiod fann forskarna att gruppen som anv\u00e4nt melatonin i mer \u00e4n ett \u00e5r hade en 4,6 procents risk att drabbas av hj\u00e4rtsvikt. Bland dem som inte anv\u00e4nde s\u00f6mnmedlet var risken bara 2,7 procent. Melatonin-gruppen hade allts\u00e5 n\u00e4stan dubbelt s\u00e5 h\u00f6g risk att drabbas. Forskarna s\u00e5g ocks\u00e5 att de var mer ben\u00e4gna att hamna p\u00e5 sjukhus f\u00f6r hj\u00e4rtsvikt, och att d\u00f6 av andra orsaker.<\/p>\n<p><strong>En av de st\u00f6rre inv\u00e4ndningarna<\/strong> som studien har f\u00e5tt \u00e4r att den bara fokuserar p\u00e5 personer som f\u00e5tt melatonin utskrivet p\u00e5 recept. Eftersom s\u00f6mnmedlet s\u00e4ljs receptfritt i m\u00e5nga l\u00e4nder g\u00e5r det allts\u00e5 inte att veta om personer i den melatoninfria gruppen \u00e4nd\u00e5 har tagit det. F\u00f6r ett mer p\u00e5litligt resultat menar s\u00f6mnforskaren Akinbolaji Akingbola att man skulle beh\u00f6va g\u00f6ra randomiserade studier, d\u00e4r deltagarna slumpm\u00e4ssigt f\u00e5r melatonin eller placebo.
