Prav tak\u0161na nepri\u010dakovana odkritja delajo raziskovanje planetov tako razburljivo.\u00ab<\/p>\n<p>Sulfati nastajajo, ko se \u017eveplo \u2013 obi\u010dajno v kemi\u010dnih spojinah \u2013 v vodi pove\u017ee z drugimi minerali. Ko voda izhlapi, minerali ostanejo v obliki sulfatov. Tak\u0161ni minerali lahko znanstvenikom veliko povedo o zgodovini vode na Marsu in o tem, kako se je povr\u0161je planeta spreminjalo skozi \u010das.<\/p>\n<p>\u010cisto\u00a0\u017eveplo pa nastaja le v zelo specifi\u010dnih razmerah, za katere doslej ni bilo znano, da bi obstajale na obmo\u010dju, kjer je Curiosity odkril kristale. Foto: Nasa\/AP<\/p>\n<p>\u017dveplo je sicer klju\u010dni element za \u017eivljenje, saj ga organizmi uporabljajo pri nastajanju dveh pomembnih aminokislin, ki so nujne za tvorbo beljakovin. \u010ceprav so sulfati na Marsu znani \u017ee dlje \u010dasa, odkritje elementarnega \u017evepla \u0161e ne pomeni dokaza o \u017eivljenju. Vendar pa dopolnjuje vse ve\u010d dokazov, da je imel planet v preteklosti pogoje, ki bi lahko omogo\u010dali \u017eivljenje.<\/p>\n<p>Potrebne\u00a0je tudi malo sre\u010de<\/p>\n<p>Ker so raziskovalci Marsa omejeni na podatke, ki jih zbirajo robotske odprave, ima pri tak\u0161nih odkritjih pomembno vlogo tudi sre\u010da. Gre za nekdanjo re\u010dno strugo, kjer kamnine \u0161e danes razkrivajo sledove\u00a0reke, ki je tam tekla pred milijardami let. Rover Curiosity \u0161e naprej raziskuje to re\u010dno korito, saj znanstveniki upajo, da bo razkril \u0161e kak\u0161no presene\u010denje.<\/p>\n<p>Povr\u0161je\u00a0rde\u010dega planeta medtem raziskuje tudi rover Perseverance, ki je na Marsu \u017ee ve\u010d kot pet let.
