Amber Heard has built a new life for herself abroad after her 2022 court battle with ex Johnny Depp.
It’s been four years since the infamous defamation lawsuit went to trial in April 2022 and concluded on June 1, 2022. Since then, the actress — who recently reached a major milestone turning 40 on Wednesday, April 22 — moved to Spain, first renting a property in Mallorca before settling in Madrid.
The Daily Mail previously reported that the activist purchased a home for about $1.7 million in El Viso, a neighborhood in the Chamartin district, and had become “well and truly integrated” into society, per an article published on Thursday, April 23.

“She lives here and I often see her walking her daughter to school in the mornings. She wears a cap, sunglasses, and normal clothes and keeps a low profile,” a neighbor told the Daily Mail in December 2024. “She lives here in peace, this is a neighbourhood filled with famous people, including football players, but no one bothers each other, I think that’s why she likes it — she has completely integrated into the community.”
“When Amber first arrived there were lots of photographers parked outside the home but now there are none,” the neighbor continued. “No one here really knows who she is, they don’t recognise her in the street like they would in America. When I saw all the commotion around her I had to ask my friend who she was and she explained she was Johnny Depp’s ex.”

As for the spots Heard frequents, the publication reported that she goes to the historic El Retiro Park and an American supermarket called Taste of America.
“She comes here a lot in the afternoon with her little girl, my colleague has served them many times,” an employee at Taste of America told the outlet. “I assume she likes to buy things that remind her of home, we have all kinds of stuff from the USA here.”

Heard also welcomed two children while living in Spain, twins Ocean and Agnes, announcing their arrival on May 11, 2025, via an Instagram post. She is also a mom to daughter Oonagh, 5.
According to Daily Mail, Heard sends Oonagh to a private Catholic school where she is taught in English and Spanish.
