The coming weeks could be critical for Barcelona in the context of their forward line for next season.

Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski is expected to decide his future soon. His current contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season, but the club are open to renewing his contract for another year.

Barcelona, though, have offered Lewandowski a reduced salary package and a secondary role in the team. His agent, Pini Zahavi, has already arrived in Barcelona as the player makes his final decision.

Ferran Torres’ future in focus

As Lewandowski makes a decision on his future, Ferran Torres’ long-term prospects at Barcelona have come into focus.

According to Catalunya Radio, the Catalans are ready to sell Torres in the coming summer in case Lewandowski decides to continue at the club for another year.

Barcelona believe Torres and Lewandowski cannot co-exist in the same team, especially as the club look to return to the 1:1 rule.

The Blaugrana have not made any renewal offer to Ferran either. It appears the club are waiting for Lewandowski’s decision before taking the next step.

If Lewandowski decides to leave, Torres will continue in the Barça frontline. But the club will try to bring in a new forward regardless.

In case the Pole decides to stay, the idea is to sanction Ferran’s permanent sale. The club are also open to adding him in a deal to sign a new player, with his team previously being linked to the Julian Alvarez transfer operation.

Ferran, for his part, has not shown much desire to leave Camp Nou. But as pressure mounts, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Spanish international.
