An investigation into eight police officers is ‘ongoing’ following reports of alleged misbehaviour on a trip to Spain, Durham Constabulary have confirmed. ChronicleLive previously reported that a sergeant, six police constables and a special constable were suspended in October 2025 pending an investigation into allegations that they failed to uphold standards of professional behaviour.
A spokesperson for the force said at the time: “Eight Durham Constabulary officers have been suspended pending an investigation into allegations that they failed to uphold standards of professional behaviour.
“A sergeant, six PCs and a special constable, all based at Chester-le-Street police station, were suspended in October 2025 while an investigation is carried out by the force’s Professional Standards Department into the officers’ behaviour while off-duty.
“The investigation is ongoing and all eight remain under suspension.” Today, the force said: “The investigation remains ongoing.”
