This week the standings in Foothill League softball mostly held firm to final, with the only change being a swap of fifth and sixth place teams. That result will probably be just for pride, however. Since the Foothill is a seven-team league, only four playoff spots are guaranteed.

Softball playoff brackets will be released on Monday, May 11 at 9 a.m. at cifss.org. Games begin on May 14.

 

Saugus (19-8, 12-0)

Saugus had already locked up first place in the Foothill League with one game to go. That game turned out to be an 11-1 victory over Valencia on May 6.

The Centurions await a playoff pairing announcement on Monday.

West Ranch (20-8, 9-3)

West Ranch beat Canyon 13-12 on May 1, which secured second place in league. Maybe the Wildcats celebrated too much because the next game was a 0-16 loss to Hart on May 5.

West Ranch also awaits its playoff pairing.

Hart (14-12, 8-4)

In its last league game, Hart put the wood to West Ranch 16-0 on May 5. But it was not enough to overtake the Wildcats, which had defeated Canyon, and secured second place, on May 1.

Hart will learn its playoff opponent on May 11.

Valencia (11-10, 6-6)

Valencia punched out Golden Valley 19-0 on May 5 but then was roughed up by Saugus 1-11 on May 6.

At fourth place in league, Valencia also awaits its playoff announcement.

Castaic (9-9, 4-8)

Castaic knocked off Canyon 14-8 on May 5, which moved the Coyotes into fifth place and Canyon to sixth at season’s end.

Canyon (8-18, 3-9)

Canyon lost a close one, 12-13 to West Ranch on May 1 and then lost 8-14 to Castaic May 5. The losses dropped the Cowboys to sixth place in league.

Golden Valley (4-19, 0-12)

Golden Valley was thumped by Valencia 0-19 on May 5. With no league wins and only four non-league wins on the season, the Grizzlies are probably relieved it’s over.
