A Jet2 flight from Manchester diverted on Sunday
A Jet2 flight from Manchester Airport to Spain was diverted to London Gatwick on Sunday evening (May 10) following reports of a mid-air ’emergency’.
The flight, bound for Reus in Catalonia, was forced to change course while travelling over the south coast and the English Channel, eventually touching down at Gatwick at approximately 4pm.
The reason behind the diversion remains unconfirmed, though reports suggest it was prompted by a mid-air ’emergency’.
Flight tracking data reveals that the aircraft headed south from Manchester, passing over Cheshire, Birmingham and Reading before approaching the coastline near Brighton, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Upon reaching the English Channel, the Boeing 737 was redirected, turning northwards over High Weald and making its way towards London Gatwick.
No further details have been confirmed at this stage. Jet2 has been contacted for an official statement.
