With the season in its final couple of weeks and the La Liga title secured, FC Barcelona have shifted their focus towards planning for the next campaign.
There will be changes made to the squad, with some departures expected and some ambitious new signings being planned.
While nothing is confirmed so far, Robert Lewandowski appears set to depart as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30, even though the club are open to keeping him for another season on a reduced contract.
Another player who finds himself in a similar situation is Andreas Christensen.
Christensen renewal unlikely
And, according to The Athletic, so far, Christensen has shown no sign of agreeing a new contract with Barcelona on ‘heavily reduced terms’.
The 30-year-old Danish defender has spent the majority of the season out injured and only made his return to the squad last night against Alaves.

His deal, like Lewandowski’s, expires on June 30, and Barça have offered him an extension, but on a much lower salary and a variable component depending on his appearances.
However, with only a little over a month left for his current deal to run out, Christensen has shown no indication of being willing to accept the proposal tabled by the club.
In that scenario, the former Chelsea defender could be on the move as a free agent, bringing an end to his four-year stint at Barcelona.
Christensen joined the Catalans on a free transfer in 2022 and played a key role in the team’s La Liga triumph in his debut season.
Since then, however, the 30-year-old has constantly been bogged down by injury problems, limiting his influence and impact in the team.
