Barcelona are planning to make some big signings this summer for the first time in four years, targeting a centre-back and a striker to bring the team closer to the Champions League final.
However, to achieve this, the Catalan club will most likely need to sell players to free up space on the salary cap.
As always, there is a lot of speculation about the names that could be leaving.
It was previously mentioned that Barcelona would consider selling Raphinha or Fermín López if a big offer came in, but both have publicly stated that they want to stay.
The same goes for Marc Casadón, who was seen as a possible candidate for departure, but he too has said he is “enthusiastic to stay for many years.”
However, there are still several players for whom Barcelona will listen to offers.
According to “Mundo Deportivo”, coach Hansi Flick is expected to hold individual meetings with at least four players to discuss their future at the club.
He will talk to them about their goals and then make a decision together with the club on how to proceed.
This list also includes full-backs Alejandro Balde and Jules Koundé, who were not starters in the last “El Clásico” after losing their places to Eric García and João Cancelo.
Swedish striker Roony Bardghji is also another player with whom Flick will discuss options for the future.
Meanwhile, captain Ronald Araújo is a more special case, having had few minutes after returning from injury in December.
However, he remains determined to stay this summer, despite limited playing time.
Perhaps the most interesting cases are those of Balde and Koundé. Both were undisputed starters at the start of the season, but neither has managed to maintain their previous level throughout the year.
Flick admitted that it was “not easy” for Koundé not to play in the match against Real Madrid, the first time he has been left on the bench in a big match when fit.
Flick also said that Balde is “doing well”, but that the staff is working with him to improve for next season./Express newspaper/
