Akor Adams continued his impressive run of form on Wednesday night, scoring the winning goal as Sevilla FC fought back from two goals down to defeat Villarreal CF 3-2 in an entertaining La Liga clash at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
The Nigerian striker has now scored in consecutive league matches for Sevilla after also netting the decisive goal in their 2-1 victory over RCD Espanyol last weekend.
Villarreal appeared to be cruising early in the contest after making a dominant start.
Veteran forward Gerard Moreno opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Georges Mikautadze doubled the advantage seven minutes later to put the hosts firmly in control.
Sevilla, however, responded strongly before the break.
Oso reduced the deficit in the 36th minute to spark the comeback, while defender Kike Salas levelled the score deep into first-half stoppage time.
With momentum swinging in Sevilla’s favour, Adams completed the turnaround in the 72nd minute, calmly finishing to hand the visitors a memorable victory and continue his rich vein of form in front of goal.
The 26-year-old striker has now contributed 10 league goals and three assists in 30 appearances this season for Sevilla under manager Luis Garcia Plaza.
Adams was substituted four minutes from full-time for Andres Castrin after another influential display, while fellow Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke remained an unused substitute for Sevilla.
