At least two people were killed and four others injured in a shooting in the southern Spanish city of El Ejido overnight, police said on Tuesday.
Local news outlets reported that the shooter turned himself in to the police shortly after the event.
According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, the two murder victims were the shooter’s parents. Two of the four injured are children, a two-year-old and a seven-month-old, according to the outlet, citing the Spanish Civil Guard.
The seven-month-old is reportedly the shooter’s son. The other two injured are a woman in serious condition and a man in his 60s, per El Pais.
Also in southern Spain, National Police agents arrested an 18-year-old with ties to jihadist terrorism in the town of Tarifa last Monday, Spanish police reported.
The suspect, a young Spanish convert to Islam, had adopted the extremist dogmas of ISIS. According to their investigation, police discovered that the youth had been radicalized via the internet to an alarming degree, enough to officially swear an oath of allegiance to ISIS.
He was arrested for the crimes of membership in a terrorist group, glorification of terrorism, self-training, self-indoctrination, and indoctrination of others.
