The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has granted LNG bunkering supply authorisations to Shell Western LNG and Axpo Iberia.
The six-year approvals allow the companies to supply LNG to ships using tankers at the Spanish ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia, as per a statement issued on the port authority’s website on Wednesday.
Separately, the authority awarded a 25-year concession for a renewable fuel plant to Five Next Useoil Solutions and Uco Trading Spain.
The project involves a €20 million investment and will process waste fats including used cooking oil and animal fats into advanced biofuels at the Port of Sagunto.
Valenciaport said the projects form part of its Net Zero Emissions Plan, focused on port decarbonisation and alternative marine fuels.
