A magnitude 2.4 earthquake near Granada, Andalusia, Spain, was reported only 16 minutes ago by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera, IPMA), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 0. km beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday, April 13th, 2026, at 4:10 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.4 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Escuzar (pop. 750) located 2 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Las Gabias (pop. 16,400) located 9 km from the epicenter, and Santafe (pop. 15,400) 13 km away.
